POLICE are appealing for information from the public after a stolen Range Rover driven by ‘joyriders’ caused considerable damage to playing fields on the Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight Council says deep ruts were gouged into the wet turf when a stolen car was driven across the fields at Seaclose Park.
Police were called to the scene at around 7am this morning (Wednesday).
They were alerted to a Range Rover being driven erratically before being abandoned in a field.
The vehicle had previously been parked off Watergate Road and taken without the owner’s consent.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44230456319.
Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox, Cabinet member for the environment, said: "It's just mindless vandalism, ruining the enjoyment of many who use the site, not to mention the cost associated with reinstating the grounds.
"We are working closely with the police to identify who did this."
