Water is starting to come back in areas of Ventnor that lost supply yesterday lunchtime.

Some homes have their water back this morning (Sunday), after 4,600 properties were warned yesterday of a loss of supply or low pressure.

Some areas are yet to have their supply back, including pockets of Niton.

Thousands of water bottles were delivered throughout Ventnor, St Lawrence, Whitwell and Niton yesterday, although there were widespread reports on social media of households being left out.

The delivery people weren't necessarily knocking on doors, so people are advised to check their doorsteps, driveways and gardens for their bottles.

Southern Water did not publicise any pick-up points for residents to collect bottles, as they did in many affected areas on the mainland.

Warnings had been issued about a potential loss of supply ever since the floods hit the Island on Wednesday, October 25.

At that time, there were fears 31,000 homes on the Isle of Wight could be affected.

Thankfully, that situation never happened, but fresh warnings were then issued that the Ventnor area could be impacted this weekend.

The County Press understands the water should be back to normal by this afternoon (Sunday).

A new flood alert is in place today, for Gurnard Luck.

Flood alerts are already in place for Lukely Brook and Eastern Yar.

Southern Water said: "We continue to deliver bottled water to those on our Priority Services Register, so if you need to be added, call us on 0330 303 0368."

Running your taps for a while should  rid the system of air locks.

Southern Water said discoloured water is normal but temporary as the supply comes back on.
