A large turnout of cosplayers and fans of TV, film & the written word arrived for this year’s Fan TC Con held at Newport’s Medina Leisure Centre.

Elodie Grace Orkin, who starred in series four of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things as Eleven’s bully, Angela, and will feature in the upcoming The Burning Girls, proved popular with visitors.

For Doctor Who fans, celebrating the sci-fi series’ 60th anniversary, there was a dedicated Doctor Who zone and a ‘meet our Dalek’ section.

Velile Tshabalala, who played Rosita in the BBC favourite and is also known for her roles in Call the Midwife, Hollyoaks, Death in Paradise and Casualty, appeared alongside stuntman and actor Micky Lewis, who was often the man behind the mask of Cybermen or operating Daleks.

Micky also featured in Star Wars and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

David Howe, a media historian and an expert on the franchise, credited with one of the largest collections of Doctor Who merchandise in the world, was also there.

Also making an appearance was Craig Fairbrass, who made his acting debut in the 1989 thriller For Queen and Country alongside Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and was later cast opposite Helen Mirren in the BAFTA and Emmy award-winning Prime Suspect.

Fairbrass is also known for the Rise of the Footsolider films, reprising his role again this year in the series’ fifth instalment, Vengeance.

Gabrielle Glaister, best known for playing Bob in Blackadder and her appearances in ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale, also attended alongside Vikings of Valhalla and Doc Martin star Julian Seager.

Samantha Lee Howe, who won the National Film Award for her thriller The Stranger in Our Bed, attended, as did Martin Ballantyne, who starred in Harry Potter, The Dark Knight and The Golden Compass.

Unsurprisingly popular with visitors was Chris Rankin, who, of course, is best known for playing Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise.
