WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT: 

  • Downend Road — will be closed during road stud maintenance works, along its entire length, for one evening shift, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Friday, October 20.
  • Froglands Lane — will be shut during carriageway repair works, along its entire length, in one shift sometime between Thursday and Friday, October 20.
  • Pyle Street — will be closed during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with St James Street and Town Lane, over one shift, between tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday.

IN RYDE:

  • Smallbrook Lane — will be closed during road stud maintenance works, along its entire length, over one evening shift, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Friday, October 20. Carriageway repair works will also be carried out in one shift, sometime between tomorrow and Tuesday.
  • Ashey Road — will be shut during road stud maintenance works, along its entire length, over one evening shift, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Friday, October 20. 
  • Appley Lane — will be closed during drainage ditch works, along its entire length, in one shift , between Wednesday and Friday, October 20.

IN SANDOWN/BEMBRIDGE:

  • Bembridge Road/Sandown Road — will be shut during road stud maintenance works, along their entire lengths, over one or two evening shifts, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Friday, October 20.

IN SHANKLIN:

  • Chine Avenue — will be closed during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Vernon Meadow car park and Alexandra Road, for one shift, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday.
  • Orchardleigh Road — will be shut during street furniture repair works, along its entire length, in one shift, sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday.
