A man is in police custody following his arrest last night (Sunday, September 24) on suspicion of multiple charges - including being linked to the '22 Crew' graffiti incidents across the Isle of Wight.

Police received reports at around 9.45pm of a man spraying graffiti on vehicles in the Ryde area.

Officers attended and arrested a 42-year-old man on The Strand.

Attending officers also seized some suspected stolen antiques, believed to have been taken from a shop in Ryde High Street.

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of a knife in a public place, and resisting arrest.

He was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage - relating to the graffiti in Ryde and a recent series of incidents across the Island involving roadside furniture being spray painted, attributed to the '22 Crew'.

The graffiti tags appeared across parts of the Island overnight on September 13, with Fairlee Road, Wootton and Fishbourne affected.

A spokesperson from the force said he remains in custody at this time.
