Thousands of pounds has been raised to support an Isle of Wight girl battling leukaemia, and her family.

The Binstead Arms pub, formerly The Fleming Arms, held a fundraising day for Chelsea Wyatt-Kelly, from the village, on September 9.

As the County Press previously reported, the 13-year-old became unwell in June.

Chelsea's mother Siobhan Kelly noticed she had become increasingly tired, had lost her appetite, and had fainting episodes and bruising.

Blood tests soon revealed she had leukaemia.

After nearly five weeks at hospital in Southampton, Chelsea returned home and treatment is currently shared between the mainland and St Mary's Hospital.

With Siobhan and husband, Joe Paterson, unable to work since the diagnosis, the landlords of the pub kindly came up with the idea of holding of the fundraiser.

On the day there was a treasure hunt, bake sale, raffle and tombola and much more.

The pub posted to say: "We are truly humbled and overwhelmed by how our community has come together."

Siobhan said it was a "fantastic day".

Joe is also planning a skydive on September 23.

Money raised will go towards charity Young Lives vs Cancer, which has provided the family with accommodation in Southampton.

So far, more than £1,800 has been raised but donations are still welcome.
