WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT: 

  • Burnt House Lane — shut during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Pan Lane and Downend Road, between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally. 
  • Castlehold Lane — closed during building works, along its entire length, from 7.30am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Friday, October 20, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.

IN COWES:

  • Newport Road — closed during arboriculture works, between its junctions with Shamblers Road and St Faiths Road, between Wednesday and Friday, September 22, or when the works have been completed.

IN RYDE:

  • Church Lane — shut during scaffolding, between its junctions with Yelfs Road and Union Street, from 7am tomorrow (Monday) until 4.30pm on Monday, October 23, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.
  • Bellevue Road — closed during utility works, between its junctions with Dover Street and Trinity Street, from 8am on Wednesday until 5pm on Friday, September 22, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.
  • Gatehouse Road — shut during utility works, between its junctions with Ryde Bridleway 21 and Deacons Lane, from 8am on Wednesday until 5pm on Friday, September 22, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.
  • St Thomas Street — closed during utility works, between its junctions with Lind Street and Esplanade, until Wednesday, or when the works heve been completed. An alternative route is signposted locally.
  • Argyll Street — shut during carriageway repair works, along its entire length, between Tuesday and Thursday, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.
  • Lind Street — shut for carriageway repairs along its entire length, between Tuesday and Thursday, or when the works have been completed, with an alternative route signposted locally.
