A NEWPORT couple celebrated a landmark occasion this month – their 70th wedding anniversary.

Norman and Jacqui Fallick first met at Newport Congregational Youth Club.

After a short courtship, they married at Quay Street Methodist Church on September 5, 1953.

Their wedding reception was held at Newport Unity Hall, and the couple honeymooned in Eastbourne.

The pair celebrated their anniversary with family and friends, including Peggy Graham who was their bridesmaid, and John Stock, their nephew, who presented them with a lucky horseshoe on the steps of the church 70 years ago.

At the time of the wedding, Norman was working at Borough Hall Garage in Newport.

He went on to work for many years at Gould Hibberd and Randall.

Before he retired, he was able to return to his passion of working with cars at Prices Garage.

Jacqui worked at Gould Hibberd and Randall until the birth of their three children, Tim, Chris and Jane.

In later years, Jacqui enjoyed her time working at Forget Me Not art shop in Nodehill.

Marking the milestone, the pair received a congratulatory card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
