WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT:

  • South Street — will be shut during carriageway repairs, eastbound along its entire length, for three nights between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday.
  • Town Lane — will be shut during carriageway repairs, along its entire length, for three nights between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday.
  • Pyle Street — will close during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with St James' Street and Town Lane, for three nights, between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday.
  • Whitcombe Road — will be shut for utility works, along its entire length, from 8am on Wednesday until 4pm on Wednesday, September 27.

IN RYDE:

  • Queens Walk — will close during utility works, along its entire length, from 8am on Thursday until 4pm on Tuesday, September 19.

IN SHANKLIN:

  • Palmerston Road — will close during utility works, between its junctions with High Street and Cross Street, from 8am on Wednesday until 6pm on Friday, September 15, with the one-way system revoked and an alternative route signposted locally. 

IN VENTNOR: 

  • The Pitts — will be shut for utility works, along its entire length, from 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Wednesday.

IN SANDOWN

  • Beachfield Road — will be shut during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with New Street and Broadway, between Tuesday and Thursday.

IN YARMOUTH:

  • Bridge Road — will close during bridge repairs, along its entire length, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
