Two-way temporary traffic lights heading in and out of East Cowes are no longer in place, bringing an end to days of disruption.

Repairs to fix a burst water main had been causing huge tailbacks beyond Whippingham into East Cowes.

Southern Water started works on Monday (4).

Although the repairs were completed yesterday (Tuesday), the utility company said it was still finishing off ‘reinstating the road back to its original condition’.

The works added an hour to peak time journeys.

It's understood the lights were removed last night.
