WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT:

  • Scarrott's Lane — will be shut for scaffolding works, along its entire length, from 6am tomorrow (Monday) until 4pm on Friday, October 20.

IN COWES:

  • High Street — closed for utility works, between its junctions with Terminus Road and Carvel Lane, from 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Wednesday.
  • Princes Road — shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, October 6.

IN SHANKLIN: 

  • Orchardleigh Road — will shut for kerbing works, between house No.11 and St Johns Road juntion, to allow access to premises during the closure, from 9am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Monday, September 11.
  • Prospect Road and Steephill Road — for utility works, along their entire lengths, between 6.30pm tomorrow (Monday) and 6.30am on Wednesday. The one-way restriction will be suspended during that period, to allow access to premises.

IN RYDE:

  • Surrey Street — shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, October 6.
  • Bus Station Lane — closed for works which may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, investigation, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, September 15, between 8pm and 5am over five nights during this period, or when the works have been completed.
  • Coppice End — shut for carriageway repair works, along its entire length, from 12.01am tomorrow (Monday) until 11.59pm on Friday, September 15.

IN VENTNOR:

  • Zig Zag Road — shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works,
    verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, October 6.
  • Rene Howe Walk — closed during parapet works, along its entire length, between 12.01 am tomorrow (Monday) until 11.59pm on Friday, March 8 next year.
  • Trinity Road — shut for vegetation works, along its entire length, on Tuesday.

IN EAST COWES:

  • Oakfield Road and Grange Road — shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, October 6.
  • Clarence Road — shut for safety during crane lifting works for GKN, between its junctions with Osborne Road and Falcon Road, across five shifts, between 8am and 4pm, including, Saturday, September 9 and 30, Sunday, October 1, and Saturday, October 14 and November 4.

IN SANDOWN:

  • Melville Street shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, maintenance works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along its entire length, until Friday, October 6.
