Hard work deserves reward and Isle of Wight NHS Trust employees have been nominated for a slew of prestigious healthcare awards.

Six teams have been shortlisted for accolades in recent weeks.

An Island team is in the running for the the AHP Workforce Transformation Award, at the Chief Allied Health Professional Awards, on October 12.

It will go to those who demonstrate change through innovation and applicants were required to describe benefits to service, staff and patients, as well as challenges faced along the way.

The Patient Experience Team is among the finalists for Best Team in the Patient Experience Network Awards.

The prizes will be handed out on September 28, at the University of Birmingham.

There are two nods at this year's Nursing Times Workforce Awards.

Island nurses are finalists for both best employer for staff recognition and engagement, and workforce team of the year.

They will find out if they have won at a ceremony in London's Hilton Metropole, November 21.

For the third year running, student nurse, Jade Wareham, is in the final to be named the Royal College of Nursing Awards' Nursing Student of the Year.

Meanwhile the ambulance service has been shortlisted for an HSJ Award, in the patient safety category.

The nod is for the team's work to develop integrated critical care pathways.

There are also HSJ Patient Safety Awards chances for the falls shared governance council (FSGC), at St Mary’s Hospital, and for a partnership scheme with the Isle of Wight Council's Wightcare service.

Director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals, Juliet Pearce, said: “I am incredibly proud of all our staff for getting the recognition they deserve.

"Everyone at our Trust has worked really hard, during some exceptionally busy times, to improve the quality of the care and support we provide to our island community.

"We wish all our teams the very best."
