An Isle of Wight man was arrested in Cowes yesterday evening (Wednesday, August 23) after a woman was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted.
Police were alerted just before 6.45pm to reports that a woman had been forced into a car by someone she knew and driven to the Seaview Road area of Cowes from Newport.
It was also reported that she had been assaulted, a Hampshire and Isle of Wight spokesperson said.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old man from Shalfleet on suspicion of kidnap, common assault and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour.
He remains in police custody at this time.
