Emergency teams were sent to assist the passengers and dog on board a vessel which run around off East Cowes this morning (Thursday, August 17).

Cowes RNLI lifeboat was launched this morning to help the motorboat, which was grounded off Osborne Bay.

HM Coastguard confirmed two people and a dog were on board the boat at the time.

The lifeboat launched at 11.48am, and managed to tow the boat off the gravel before it was trapped for hours on the receding tide.

The vessel was then escorted to Hasler Marina across the Solent in Gosport.
