The Isle of Wight's floating bridge has been involved in a collision with a yacht.

Pictures show a yacht colliding with the chain ferry's bow as the vessel makes its way to Cowes.

The floating bridge was carrying passengers at the time.

They have since got off the vessel.

The yacht has since been moved by a Cowes Harbour Commission boat.

The East Cowes to Cowes service is continuing to run as normal.

The floating bridge only came back into operation on Tuesday (15).

It was pulled from action around a month ago, while the Isle of Wight Council awaited a 'technical specialist' to resolve a software issue.

The vessel's software system failed just before Cowes Week.
