WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT:

  • Wykeham Road, Sunningdale Road and Alderbury Road — shut for works that may include carriageway and footway reconstruction, rectification, resurfacing, drainage works, verge maintenance and kerbing works, along their entire lengths, from Friday, August 11, for up to 15 days. It may be necessary to close these roads on more than one occasion within this timeframe.
  • Scarrotts Lane — closed for utility works, along its entire length, from 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 6pm on Friday, August 25. 

IN RYDE:

  • Jubilee Place — closed for utility works along its entire length, from 8am on Wednesday until 6.30pm on Friday, August 18.
  • Cornwall Street —closed during utility works, between its junctions with The Strand and Simeon Street, from 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 6.30pm on Friday, August 18.
  • Star Street — shut for utility works, between its junctions with High Street and George Street, between 6pm and 6am daily from tomorrow (Monday) until Tuesday.
  • Weeks Road — closed during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Osborne Road and Swanmore Road, between tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday.
  • George Street — shut during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Melville Street and Star Street, on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Slade Road — closed during carriageway repair works, between its junctions with Cross Street and Blackthorne Close, between Wednesday and Friday, August 18.

IN SHANKLIN:

  • Highfield Road — closed for utility works along its entire length, between 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 6pm on Tuesday.
  • Westhill Road — shut for utility works along its entire length, between 8am on Wednesday and 4pm on Monday, August 21.
