THE streets of Ventnor were alive with the sound of music, laughter and cheers when the carnival weaved its way through the town on Wednesday evening.

There was an ice-cream themed float in honour of the town's popular ice cream parlour Crave, with cool princesses and an ice queen proving the perfect toppings.

Bands included Fat Samba, Raw Samba, Vectis Corps of Drums, Medina Marching Band, and, of course, Ventnor Comic Jazz Band.

Fireworks finished the night off perfectly and a huge crowd stayed to watch, lining the Esplanade and all the hilly streets beyond.

The display was courtesy of seaside businesses The Spyglass Inn, Smoking Lobster, The Met, The Millbay, The Ventnor Winter Gardens, Ventnor Town Council, Lady Scarlett’s Tea Parlour, Golden Sands, Ventnor Esplanade, Longshoreman's Museum, Blakes Longshoremen, Besty And Spinkys Cafe/Bar and Ventnor Haven Fishery.
