Carnival fever returns to the Isle of Wight today (Monday, August 28), as marching bands, fancy dress and outstanding creativity hit the streets of St Helens.

St Helens main carnival retuns today for a second year in a row, following a two year hiatus.

Part of a wider event — the St Helens Sports and Carnival — festivities will kick off early on the Green.

A coffee and cake event will take place in the Pavilion on the Green to raise funds towards running a village fayre next year.

Later in the evening, judging will take place at 5.45pm, and the procession will move away at 6.30pm.
