An Isle of Wight author’s new book, which tells the story of grey squirrels trying to find their way across the Solent, is helping raise money for an Island red squirrel charity.

Author Sue Pope released her book The Secret Life of Squirrels earlier this year, with the story following the greys as they seek the Isle of Wight’s evergreen food source during the cold winter months.

A community of red squirrels living near the beach defend their homes as the greys use boats, squirrel-sized spitfires, rockets, hot air balloons and geese!

All the book’s proceeds go to the Isle of Wight Red Squirrel Trust, with the story not written for financial gain.

Sue lives on the Island with her husband, Clive, and loves animals and the natural world. She is interested in all environmental issues and gardening.

She is researching her family tree and enjoys walking and red squirrel watching.

The Secret Life of Squirrels is self-published through Austin Macauley and is available on Amazon.
