Three people were rescued by lifeboat crews after a fishing boat ran aground off the Isle of Wight yesterday afternoon (Sunday, August 6).

Ryde Inshore Rescue were contacted at 5.20pm to reports of a fishing boat aground at the mouth of Wootton Creek.

The independent lifeboat was launched and made good speed to assist, but unfortunately, due to falling tide, nothing could be done to get the boat off the bank.

The volunteer crew assisted the three people on board and helped them safely back onto dry land.

After ensuring the boat was secure and safe, with the anchor laid, the lifeboat returned to the station.
