A familiar Isle of Wight band has been left counting the cost of Storm Antoni, which ripped through the Chale Show on Saturday, August 5.

Medina Marching Band's fundraising and recruiting stall was destroyed by the high winds and heavy rain.

Two gazebos blew away, exposing the band's table, overturning it and leaving bottles smashed and prizes and stock ruined.

The destruction meant the team could not make the most of day two, which was sunny and calm, to raise vital funds on one of the biggest weekends in their calendar.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Medina Marching Band is distinctive because of the red uniforms worn by its members, who are aged eight and up.

The organisation has a donations page on its website HERE, which helps with the cost of maintaining instruments, developing new music and more.

Earlier this year, around 60 members of the band travelled to the capital, to take part in London Band Week

Medina Marching Band told the Isle of Wight County Press they are self-sufficient and rely on fundraising events to keep running throughout the year.

They said it was lucky no instruments were left there overnight, as they would also have been ruined.

On Sunday, the musicians regrouped to perform on the show's arena, but the weather 'really left a bitter taste,' said chairman, Kevin Downer.
