The postponed Brighstone Summer Show, rescheduled to take place on August 12, has now been cancelled for 2023.

Instead, 2024 dates have been announced and the show will return on July 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, its organisers and participants, including the Brighstone Horticultural Society, are pointing garden lovers to the Freshwater Summer Show, also on August 12.

In a social media post, the Brighstone team said: "It is with a heavy heart we must inform you the decision has been taken to cancel the Brighstone Summer Show.

"Due to the earlier change of date, necessitated by the high winds on July 15, we have been unable to find enough stallholders.

"Entertainers were also already committed elsewhere and the current unsettled wet weather is threatening a water-soaked field.

"This combination of circumstances has given us much cause for concern and so we therefore decided to abandon this year's show.

"Thanks and apologies go to everyone who has been affected by this decision and I trust you will understand the reasons behind it."

Freshwater Horticultural Society's Summer Show will take place on August 12, in Jubilee Field, Moa Place, Freshwater.

It will run between 1pm and 4.30pm.

As well as the chance to showcase prize-winning produce, there will be cider and vodka producers, cakes and crafts.
