Brighstone residents put on a fantastic display of scarecrows, all with a sports-based theme for this year’s Scarecrow Quiz Trail, which kicked off last Friday through to Sunday (July 16).

Despite the blustery gales, scarecrows could be found throughout the village, in front gardens and decorating homes.

Golfers, surfers, pole-vaulters, swimmers, horse riders, F1 stars, footballers, cricketers, snooker, badminton, rugby, tennis and table tennis players took over the rural village.

First, second and third place was decided by an ‘out of town’ judge, who, due to the high standard and number of entries found it difficult to choose.

Claiming first place was number 25 on Upper Lane, second was awarded to number 11 on Galley Lane and third went to number 30 on Lynch Lane (see our gallery!).

With nearly 50 entries, the winner of the Scarecrow Trail Quiz was Maeve, whose auntie lives in Brighstone.

The Trail raised a profit of £105, which organisers will be donating to their chosen charity, the IW Foodbank.
