A weather warning for strong winds is in force for the Isle of Wight for Saturday (15).

The Met Office yellow alert warns of an 'unseasonably windy day'.

Islanders are being told to expect delays to travel, and disruption on coastal parts of the Island.

What to expect, according to the forecaster:

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some damage to trees or temporary structures such as marquees, tents & inflatables, could occur

The warning is force from 9am on Saturday, until midnight.
