A SERVING prisoner who seriously assaulted a fellow inmate at HMP Isle of Wight more than a year ago has been sentenced.

Dimeck Amoura faced a single charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm, without intent, against fellow prisoner, William Trotter, on December 30, 2021.

He appeared from the jail via video link at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court earlier this year but was unable to offer pleas.

He had not received papers from the Crown Prosecution Service and his case was adjourned.

Going on to appear before a judge at Gloucester Crown Court this month, the 29-year-old was handed a 58-week prison term, concurrent to the sentence he is already serving, and ordered to pay a £156 surcharge.

Amoura was jailed for six years in 2012 for raping a 29-year-old trainee architect at knifepoint in London.

His sentence was later declared indeterminate for the protection of the public.

He cannot be released until the Home Office deems it safe to do so.
