An Isle of Wight meat supplier is playing an ace role at Wimbledon this year - supplying the Skyview suites - run by chef Alex Kimber from Ryde's The Heron - at the prestigious tennis event's Wimbledon Food and Drink.

Island Foods has been love-ing the opportunity to supply lamb and game.

In March, Alex Kimber hosted Wimbledon tasters at The Heron before a final menu was created.

Since then there's been a host of work taking place - the tournament starts officially on Monday.

Island Foods told the Isle of Wight County Press: "We are honoured to be chosen."

Lamb was supplied by father and son, Andrew and Robert Groves, of Combley Farm, Downend and Wacklands Farm, Newchurch.

Game has been sent via gamekeeper Adam Royal, while smoked products come from The Wight Smoke.

Island Foods, meanwhile, holds a contract with Compass Group, supplying meat to Isle of Wight schools.

It even hosted a visit from celebrity chef Michel Roux Jnr, from Le Gavroche, earlier this year.

Their contract for the supply to Food and Drink at Wimbledon started in March.

"All three sections of the food chain - the farmer, the butcher and the chef - have been working closely together for the last few months to ensure this can be achieved, further promoting the Isle of Wight," said Island Foods.
