An Isle of Wight playground has been closed after an inspection found equipment no longer meets standards and is unsafe.

Beech Grove, on The Mall, Brading, is a large park featuring a gated children's play area, a football pitch and a small wooded area with views towards Bembridge Harbour.

According to the annual inspection, some equipment at the Beech Grove Playground no longer meets the required standards.

Brading Town Council, which manages Beech Grove, said the park has been vandalised since the inspection.

Last month, Moa Place Skate Park in Freshwater was closed after an inspector discovered it in 'a very poor state'.

A spokesperson from Brading Town Council said: "We have locked the gates and ask that you do not enter the area, if you do, it is at your own risk.

"The Council will be discussing the playground at the next full council meeting on July 6, where it will be considered to repair or renew the equipment."
