Two men accused of murdering a 30-year-old Isle of Wight man have been remanded in custody until September.

Cameron Wayne Baker, of Leed Street, Sandown, and Rio Tyrrell Scott, of Park Road, Ryde, appeared at Winchester Crown Court this morning (Friday).

Both men, aged 27, have been charged with the murder of Brading's Tommy Barton.

It follows an incident in Ryde in the early hours of Sunday, May 28.

Emergency services were called to a suspected stabbing at Park Road at around 3am.

Police confirmed Mr Barton died while on his way to hospital.

A murder investigation was launched, and Mr Baker and Mr Scott were subsequently arrested and charged.

Both appeared before magistrates in Southampton on Wednesday, May 31, where they had their case sent to Winchester.

During a short hearing at Winchester Crown Court today, Judge Angela Morris adjourned the case until September 15 when the men are expected to enter a plea.

The pair have been remanded in custody until that date.

A provisional trial date has been set for November 13.

Earlier this week, Mr Barton's family paid tribute to him, saying there were "completely shattered".

"He was a father, a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend to many," said the family. 

"He has been stolen from us and we are completely heartbroken."
