A PERVERT who uploaded indecent images of children as young as five years old — including some of the most depraved kind on video — will learn his fate when he appears before an Isle of Wight Crown Court judge next month.

Paul Anthony Battman, of Spring Gardens, Shanklin, admitted three charges of possessing indecent images of children, when he appeared before Island magistrates on Friday, May 19.

The police's Internet Child Abuse Team revealed Battman uploaded a cache of indecent images of children via his email address, namely five Category A (the most serious kind), seven of Cat B and three of Cat C.

The uploading was carried out on January 14 and March 15, 2021.

Battman's electronic devices were seized on July 5 that year. He gave police a 'no comment' interview.

Following further investigation of the material, Battman, with no previous convictions, eventually admitted the offences, said Liz Miller, prosecuting.

Of the Cat A images — which included video — the children in them were as young as five years old.

Solicitor, Jim Osborne, made no representations on Battman's behalf.

Magistrates ordered a report on Battman and bailed him to reappear for sentencing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on June 20.
