Hovertravel is putting the kettle on today (Thursday, May 4) and hosting an 80th celebration event in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.

Taking place this afternoon – on International Firefighters Day – the event will see local fire crews bring fire appliances to Hovertravel’s terminals at Ryde and Southsea, where they will join staff and meet the community.

There will be cupcakes and hot drinks available in return for a donation, with the opportunity for children to meet Hovertravel's mascot Henri and The Fire Fighters Charity’s Blaze Bear.

The celebration will be part of the Charity’s national Brew With A Crew campaign, which invites colleagues, friends and families to come together and enjoy a hot drink while chatting and sharing a moment of calm together.

Isle of Wight County Press:

All donations made during these events go directly towards funding the Charity’s vital services.

The Fire Fighters Charity supports the health and well-being of serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependants and other eligible members of the UK fire services community throughout their lives.

Neil Chapman, Managing Director of Hovertravel, says: “We wanted to celebrate the 80th anniversary of The Fire Fighters Charity by hosting a birthday tea in our terminals, and National Firefighters Day was the perfect date.

“The communities on both sides of the Solent appreciate their local firefighters, and this Brew With A Crew is a great opportunity for our customers to show their support.”
