Calling all garden history detectives! Volunteers are wanted to help investigate Marine Villa landscapes on the Isle of Wight.

The appeal comes from the Isle of Wight Gardens Trust, which is launching its new Garden History Detectives Project.

The aim is to visit Marine Villa grounds and gardens to look for remaining garden features, taking notes and photographic records.

Many of these sites are not usually open to the public and we have the owners support to explore and investigate.

A spokesperson said: "We are looking for volunteers to help us investigate these special places which are not only important to the island but nationally scarce."

The new project starts with a launch meeting on Saturday, May 13.

Attendance is free but spaces must be booked by April 30.
