'No data has been breached' insists Visit Isle of Wight, after a 'bot' attacked its website over the weekend.

Multiple businesses received emails purporting to be from the tourism organisation.

It said a ‘bot’ took advantage of a form on its website, which was 'potentially open to attack'.

A spokesperson said: "We believe only a small number of addresses received multiple emails."

A statement said extra levels of protection have been added, to prevent it from happening again.

"This is not a data breach", it added.

The emails appeared to come from info@visitwight.org.
