The Duchess of Gloucester, accompanied by the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Susie Sheldon, has officially opened the NHS Trust's new ambulance station.

A tour of the facilities was on the agenda for Wednesday's (April 19) royal visit, before a plaque was unveiled.

The VIPs were welcomed by Isle of Wight Trust chief executive, Darren Cattell and director of operations for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, Victoria White.

Darren Cattell said: "The new station and all the improvements will make such a difference to our people and our service, and will ensure our ambulance service is resilient for the future, to continue providing a high-quality urgent and emergency service to our Island community."

Changes include management, administrative, training and staff facilities, new changing areas and a welfare room, to support emotional wellbeing.
