THE IW-Heroes Con returned to Newport’s Quay Arts on Sunday (April 16), with organisers describing the event as the ‘most epic’ they had done.

The event boasted a very popular arcade gaming contest, a Q&A panel with artists Glenn Fabry, Andrew Sayers, Dan Digby and Adam Gaterall and a cosplay contest hosted by Robin from Master of Disguise.

All the competition winners received an IW-Heroes Con 2 trophy, certificate, and Heroes goodie bags.

Special guest Johnny 5, from Short Circuit, joined the fun and proved very popular with visitors and many posed to take photos with the Tardis.

Pirate The Skull Captain and Huxley kept crowds entertained in the cafe area, traders and artists from across the Island came together, and Vectis Productions held a table in the event room where it spoke about its upcoming film.

At the event, Heroes’ Rob and Raven launched a new comic company, Caulkhead Comics. Through this venture, Dan Digby of Comic Art released his first comic book, Hardcore Hare.

Nicky Symmonds, one of the Heroes Con organisers, said: “Today was hands down the most epic event we have ever done!

“It's quite a mission to put on a totally free event for the community. A lot of hard work, a lot of planning, long hours, and a mass amount of passion.

“The whole day, from start to finish, was packed with people. We couldn't believe the turnout, and the cosplay community pulled it out the bag. You all looked incredible!”

Heroes Con 2 raised a total of £1,200 and counting for YMCA, the Island's young carers charity.

Nicky continued: "We will be back next year! I will be announcing a date for IW-Heroes Con 3 very soon!"
