Hunnyhill in Newport is shut this morning (Monday), after a burst water main left Isle of Wight residents without water.

The pipe burst at around 4am yesterday (Sunday, April 16).

Utility firm, Southern Water, is carrying out repairs but it described the fix as 'bigger than we hoped'.

Hunnyhill is currently only open for access. Through traffic is being asked to divert.

The closure is in place between Hunnycross (the entrance to Sainsbury's) and the top of Hunnyhill (where it joins Medina Way).

A diversion runs through Riverway Industrial Estate

Southern Water said: "We're sorry for the disruption."

Yesterday, it had re-routed supplies for most customers but some in the Riverway and Dodnor areas were getting water in bottles.
