A CONVICTED paedophile has been handed a suspended sentence after flouting the terms of the Sex Offenders' Register by failing to notify police about a change in debit card details.

David Mark Bradshaw, of Dolcroft Road, Rookley, had previously pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements and appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 14, for sentencing.

Liz Miller, prosecuting, said Bradshaw is considered a ‘medium risk’ sexual offender and he had previously been convicted after being caught in possession of indecent images.

Ms Miller told the court his previous bank card had expired in July, and he received his new card on October 5 but failed to register it until November.

The 67-year-old was required to notify police within three days after receiving a new bank card, following his notification requirements.

Bradshaw was convicted of possessing almost 35,000 child sex abuse images — ranging from category A, the most serious kind, to category C — almost three years ago.

Oscar Vincent, defending, said Bradshaw volunteered the information to police after discussing it with his probation practitioner and that the offence came about by confusion on his client’s part.

The new bank card has a blank front, with no embossed details, meaning there was 'no obvious reason' why Bradshaw would believe there were new details to declare to police, said Mr Vincent.

Bradshaw was given a 26-week suspended sentence, ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £300 in costs and a £154 surcharge.
