A swathe of strong winds could bring disruption for the Isle of Wight tomorrow (Wednesday), according to both local and national weather forecasters.

The Island's bad weather had been expected to start today (Tuesday), however a yellow weather warning was subsequently cancelled.

Instead, we are told by the Met Office to expect "increasing west or northwest winds during Wednesday morning, remaining strong for much of the day" - warnings will be in force, from the early morning.

The national forecasters' yellow weather warning continues: "Gusts of 40-50 mph are expected widely within the warning area, but some coastal areas, especially in parts of south and west Wales and Cornwall, could see gusts above 60-70 mph during Wednesday morning.

"Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds."

The Met Office warning will be in place between 6am and 8pm, on April 12.

Isle of Wight forecaster IW Met Service has also issued a warning for severe gales and extremely large waves, with south-westerly winds of around 60mph widely and up to 75mph in "a few exposed locations".

The IW Met Service's warning will be in place from 11am until 11pm.
