Work to restore the BN-2 Islander G-AVCN airplane has now finished, and a launch day will celebrate the project.

The Britten-Norman Aircraft Preservation Society is holding a special event to mark the restoration of the plane, number three built and the oldest of the type in existence.

It will be on permanent show at the Wight Military and Heritage Museum and the official launch day is on Saturday, April 22.

Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. It would be appreciated if those attending could notify the BNAPS event team in advance by emailing bob@bnaps.org or texting 07840 036216.

There is a schedule for the day.

11am is arrival and check in at BNAPS reception desk on the first floor.

11.45am – visitors start assembling around Islander G-AVCN on ground floor

12pm - Launch ceremony starts

12.30pm to 2.30pm - viewing of aircraft and museum.

As well as getting a close up look at Islander G-AVCN there will be information about the history of the aircraft, a video show of the restoration project and an Islander flight simulator.

The museum is at Northwood, off the main Newport Road, and entry is free on this special day.
