A MAN from London accused of drug dealing heroin and crack cocaine, was tracked down on the Isle of Wight and appeared before Island magistrates.

Devante Bennett, of Castle Manor Road, faced two charges of supplying Class A drugs, in London, between September 29 last year and March 15, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

The 45-year-old is part of a police investigation into drug dealing within the 'Max and Sunny' county drug line, which has historically sold heroin and crack cocaine to drug users in Woolwich, Bexley, Belvedere and Kent.

The 'Max and 'Sunny' line is usually run by mobile phone, which contains contact details of customers with text messages sent out in bulk, advertising that the drug lines are active and in operation.

Customers then contact the ordering line and the deal is arranged, said Liz Miller, prosecuting.

The drug line receives a high volume of calls from known class A drug users.

Mr Bennett was remanded in custody, to reappear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on April 19.
