Although the council has said there is currently a waiting list for stage one beginner classes, spaces are still available for those with previous swimming experience or young swimmers who want to improve stroke technique or advance on existing skills.
The centre holds swim tests to ensure each child fits into the correct ability class from their first lesson.
Councillor Julie Jones-Evans, cabinet member responsible for leisure centres, said: "Being confident and safe in the water is one of the best ways to get the most out of living on the Isle of Wight — everybody loves a sunny day at the beach!
"Swimming is a fantastic life skill, not only does it help your child enjoy the water, but it can also help prevent drowning, develop fine motor skills and encourage a healthy lifestyle."
