The Isle of Wight is included in a Met Office weather warning for strong winds.

The yellow 'be aware' alert is in force from 10am to 6pm today (Monday).

Forecasters are predicting southwesterly winds of up to 65mph, which may lead to some disruption.

High winds are already causing disruption on cross-Solent travel this morning, as the County Press reported.

The Met Office has said to expect more disruption:

  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and damage to trees is also likely
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
