A man was arrested on the Isle of Wight, on suspicion of drunk driving, after a crash on Brighstone's Galley Lane, last night (Thursday).

A car flipped onto its roof in the incident, at about 10.30pm. 

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newport and Freshwater attended and freed one person from the car.

Both they and paramedics provided medical care at the scene. 

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said a driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

He was taken to hospital to have his injuries checked over.

The results of a blood test are being awaited by police.
