Southern Water has said it expects water to be restored by this evening.

A statement reads: “We're sorry that some of our customers in Newport (P030 2) are having low water pressure and in some cases, loss of supply.

"This is due to problems encountered whilst working on a main in Fairlee Road. We have now completed the repairs and our Engineers are working hard to refill our network and restore supplies as quickly as possible, we anticipate customers will be back in supply before this evening.

"As a precaution we will not close the bottled water station at Langton Walk, near Godric Road, and bottled water continues to be delivered to our customers on our Priority Services Register.

"As water starts to return, residents may still have low pressure – this is normal and is only temporary. People may also see bubbles and discolouration."
