The glory days of Newport Cattle Market (CP 30-12-23) have very different memories for me.
As a teenager I used to go to the market, to feed the animals.
One memory, I shall never forget, is a tiny calf was tethered to a stall, feet not touching the ground, foam coming from his mouth.
I asked one of the people to help, his reply was that it doesn’t matter it’s going for slaughter!
As for reminiscing, watching animals being herded down Scarrots Lane for slaughter, someone please tell me, what pleasure comes from watching that?

If butcher shops were slaughterhouses, we may see what goes on.
Thank god for Compassion in World Farming.
And yes, I am a veggie, thank God!
