An Isle of Wight marching band has been invited to join musicians from around the UK - and the world - at a prestigious musical event in London, in July.

London Band Week runs from the end of June until early July and Medina Marching Band will be there on July 1 and 2.

Joining them will 350 members of the University of Tennessee Bands Pride of the Southland and Florida's Sounds of Success Community Marching Band.

In 2019, Medina Marching Band played a key part in the Lord Mayor's Show, in the capital.

Founded in 1976, by the late George Urry, the Island's Medina Marching Band is easily spotted thanks to their red jackets, white helmets and caps.

The band caters for novice students and experienced players alike.

This summer, they will perform at the London Tattoo (at the ExCel Centre) and at Hampton Court Palace.

Medina Marching Band said: "We are proud and honoured to be representing the Island at another prestigious event."
