AN ISLE of Wight hotel has teamed up with its neighbours to put together Christmas lights and a music display to raise money for two local charities close to their hearts.

Victoria Lodge Hotel on Alexandra Road in Shanklin is fundraising for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Wessex Cancer Trust.

Owner Alysa Shirley received a call in 2018 from St Mary’s Hospital's emergency department, after a pub car park attack in Fishbourne left her son Cameron in a potentially critical condition.

Cameron was airlifted to the University of Southampton Hospital by Hampshire Air Ambulance, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a large clot from outside his brain.

He was later moved to Portsmouth's Queen Alexandra Hospital, where he underwent physiotherapy, and then to a specialist stroke rehabilitation home.

To this day, Cameron continues to live with walking issues due to his strokes.

Kalysta, Cameron's sister, said: “Come along and enjoy our light and music display, hot and cold drinks for a donation and meet our very own Santa for a donation.

“All money raised will be donated to Hampshire Air Ambulance and Wessex Cancer Trust IW.”

The fundraiser will continue tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, and next Thursday (December 22) and Friday (December 23).

Victoria Lodge Hotel is in the running to win the Light Up The Wight award, found at number 14 on the map, which you can view HERE.
