- A pub in Sutton Scotney has announced a date for its Christmas hamper raffle.

The Coach & Horses in Oxford Road will welcome punters on Friday, December 9 for the big reveal.

There will be a total of six hampers to win which include products such as Waitrose free-range turkey, a beef joint, gammon, pigs in blankets, Christmas pudding, cheese and biscuits, minced pies, chocolates, sherry, prosecco, wine and port.

One of the hampers on offer, the 'indulgent' hamper, has a value of more than £200.

Tickets are £1 each and are available to purchase at the bar in advance or on the night.

The draw will take place at 6.45pm.

The pub will then be hosting a Christmas tree sale on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.

From 9am to 4pm on both days, customers can choose from Nordmann Fir trees ranging from three feet up to eight feet in size.

Mulled wine and minced pies will be served from 11am to 4pm.

- The last Wonston Community Cafe of the year is fast approaching.

It will be at Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney from 9.30am to midday on Wednesday, December 14 - a week earlier than usual.

This month the café will be supporting Myeloma UK, in special memory of a local resident Kate, who died leaving a young family in Wonston.

Kate’s mother, and her good friend Aly, will both be attending the café, highlighting the work carried out by the charity.

The November event raised a "fantastic" £260 for Canine Partners.

Janis Kinnell said: "This charity does not receive any government funding so is wholly dependent on public donations to continue its work, so your donations will make a huge difference, enabling the charity to help transform the lives of disabled people through their amazing assistance dogs."

Organisers thanked the many new visitors this month, including those from nearby Barton Stacey.

A few dates and charities have also been confirmed for 2023. On January 18, the cafe will be supporting SERV Wessex.

On February 15, it'll be raising funds for Goalball, while on March 15 proceeds will go to BOAZ.

Ms Kinnell added: "Please do come along to support the community café, which is staffed entirely by volunteers. All the cakes are homemade, we have real coffee and plenty of free parking!"

The café is cash only.

- The Dever Singers have announced a date for their Christmas concert.

Providing attendees with a varied programme of festive music, the concert will take place across two dates; Saturday, December 10 at 7.30pm and Sunday, December 11 at 6pm.

The first evening is to be held at St Margaret's Church in South Wonston while the second will see singers take to St Mary the Virgin Church in Micheldever.

There will be no entrance fee for either event, people are instead asked to make a donation, if possible, to Church Funds.
