Part of the Isle of Wight cliff path above Shanklin appears to have collapsed over the weekend and the results have been photographed by Islander Ann Heard.

A section of iron fencing has fallen over, close to the cliff lift.

Green iron railings have fallen into a hedgerow on the edge of Eastcliff Promenade.

Last week, further along Shanklin seafront, part of the cliff collapsed onto the beach.

The incident led to a warning from the Isle of Wight Council.

Isle of Wight County Press:

It said: "We would like to remind all of our communities that as we move into the autumn/winter stormier seasons, the cliffs around the Island's coast are susceptible to cliff falls caused by erosion from the sea, wind and rain.

"When visiting our beaches everyone should be mindful of the risk of rock falls and the danger of stormy seas.

"If there isn’t a clear dry area of beach award from the cliffs and the swell, do consider staying away to protect yourselves and the services that would need to be called to rescue you."
