A Met Office warning for rain for the south, including the Isle of Wight, could see up to 60mm in some places, from 2pm tomorrow (Saturday), until the early hours of Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency is warning of potentially flooded homes in the Eastern Yar area (scroll down for details).

Forecasters say rain is expected to develop across south Wales and southwest England during Saturday afternoon, moving slowly east, to clear most areas early on Sunday morning.

The most persistent rain is expected over hills but periods of heavy rain are expected almost anywhere.

While 15-25 mm is expected quite widely, some places will see 40-60mm, particularly over hills in south Wales and southwest England.

Strong winds will accompany the rain, with gusts of 45-55 mph over hills and around coasts.

It is the latest in a series of weather warnings and downpours for the Isle of Wight.

Flood alert and potential flooding in homes

An Environment Agency flood alert remains in force the Eastern Yar, meanwhile.

It reads: "The water level in the Eastern Yar remains higher than normal.

"Yesterday, 8mm of rain was recorded at Wroxall in two hours, which caused the river to slightly rise at Alverstone. Currently, it is falling by approximately 2cm per hour.

"At Sandown, levels are stable and Are expected to begin falling again.

"Further rainfall (up to 40mm) is forecast on Saturday evening and into Sunday, so while levels will fall today, the river will rise in response to this forecast rain."

It says homes could be flooded and is warning owners to take precautions.
