THE biggest warship in the world is anchored off the Isle of Wight today (Monday), and you have been sending us your photos.

The USS Gerald R Ford navigated around No Man’s Land Fort at around 10.30am this morning and is now at anchor 2.09 nautical miles off Ryde Pier Head.

Built by Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia, the 333 metres long aircraft carrier was named after the 38th President of the United States and was commissioned into service on July 22, 2017, by President Donald Trump.

With more than 4,500 crew, the warship can reach speeds of up to 35mph or around 30 knots and can carry upwards of 75 planes, with a flight deck 78 meters wide.

The USS Gerald R Ford cost approximately $13.3 billion in total.
